Organisation of teaching

For corporate language teaching, we follow these steps:

I. The Initial Phase

1) Initial consultation based on customer requirements, approval of quotation.

2) Level testing of all relevant employees, (included in the price of tuition), and which includes:
  • verification of grammatical knowledge;
  • interview with the director of studies;
  • writing;
  • or  listening (client's choice).
3) The division of employees into groups based on the results of the level test and the required courses.

4) Approval and signing the contract.

5) Following the placing of employees into groups and approval thereof courses are developed (in accordance with the requirements of the contracting authority) and teaching staff assigned. These plans include learning how the course content will be covered, textbooks, intermediate objectives, and decisions as to what international tests the students may eventually take through attending these courses.

6) ILC IH Brno can provide all the standard teaching materials - textbooks (if required), incl. complementary workbooks, and the Director of Studies will also assign the most suitable teacher to each post.

7) The employer shall designate a contact person with whom we can discuss all  questions, the organization of the course, changes or complaints during the teaching programme. In the case of dissatisfaction / repeated complaints about the teacher's suitability for the group we will ensure the Director of Studies will discuss and resolve the complaint (such as an exchange of teacher).

II. Teaching structure

1) Admininstration management - each class on every course has a separate register, including a list of students in a group, a summary of their attendance, a record of work covered in individual lessons, homework assigned, a record of individual tests, a statement confirming course content, the total number of lessons taught on the course, etc.

2) Progress will be measured using specially-tailored tests. Usually they are done after half the course has been completed (the Mid Year Test). These tests are called Progress Tests, as they measure the student's knowledge of the material taught on that course in relation to their attendance. A satisfactory mark in one of these tests is more than 60% in the overall evaluation. The test focuses on all components of language - grammar, vocabulary, writing, listening, reading and useful everyday phrases.
The evaluation also includes a brief evaluation of each student written by their teacher.

It is also possible to check students' knowledge over the course of the year by international standards (Cambridge - Tests KET, PET, FCE, CAE, CPE). For these purposes, ILC IH Brno has an archive of tests from previous years to refer to, as well as the fact that many teachers at ILC IH Brno act as examiners for the oral exams.

3) Billing is usually done once a month.

III. At the conclusion of a course

When the course has ended - usually at the end of the school year, i.e. in June, the knowledge of all course participants is verified by doing a final test (the End of Year Test), whose content is course-specific. The final criterion is that the course will have been completed if a student's attendance on said course was over 60% - although naturally this figure can also be dictated by the customer.

The test also includes a brief written analysis of each individual student's progress over the year, written by their teacher. This also includes any recommendations for how best to continue their studies in the future.

Students who successfully pass the course can request ILC International House issue them a certificate indicating the level achieved, or simply a certificate of course completion.
