Kvalifikace lektorů - univerzitní vzdělání a některý z mezinárodních jazykových certifikátů (např. CELTA, Trinity TESOL).

Pamela Becker is Director of Studies (DoS). This is her fifth year teaching at IH Brno, where she immensely enjoys the students, staff, and creative flexibility in the classroom. Like her colleague Pavla, Pamela is also an intricate part of the International House operations and did her DoS management training at International House World Organisation headquarters in London. In addition to her responsibilities with the school, Pamela is also a certified Cambridge Oral Examiner and did her CELTA teacher training at Akcent International House, Prague. Prior to her Director of Studies appointment, Pamela was the Assistant Director of Studies at the school and brings with her a wide range of international management experience. She is originally from Chicago, Illinois, USA, where her management and teaching career experiences have always been focused on education and international projects. When not teaching, Pamela enjoys skiing; Czech, German, and Jewish cultures; music of many styles (especially Irish, Jazz, African, and Classical); playing the violin or viola, and going to live performances. |

Anette has travelled and lived in so many places that she wouldn’t claim a hometown. She did her Trinity TESOL training at Oxford House College in Prague. This is Anette’s fifth year working for IH Brno. She enjoys it because it’s an IH school with nice students, a fun and supportive staff, and a super school secretary. Anette has had a colorful career background as a social worker, journalist, photographer, cook, jewelry designer, and a drama teacher (just to name a few). She has lived in Thailand, Germany, Australia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, and New Zealand as a few examples. One day Anette would like to return to the land Down Under for permanent residence. Anette enjoys the fine Moravian wine, countryside, and friends here in the Czech Republic in addition to her hobbies of reading, cooking, and snorkelling. Her newest skill is walking on stilts. |
| Anthony is from Melbourne. Yes, he is an Aussie, from the place with the weird-looking animals and weirder-sounding people. He got his ELT International Teaching Certificate in Prague, and has taught in Slovakia and at International House Moscow, Russia. He's come to IH Brno and is staying for a second year because he knows Czech students are hardworking, optimistic, on-time, and abstinent...wait a minute--optimistic? On-time? Abstinent? Maybe he's thinking of Slovak students, being also very familiar with that culture and having quite an ironic wit. Anyway, while he's here he'd like to teach English, of course, and also learn Czech and drink some beer. He loves sports and was a swimmer for twelve years. Anthony studied International Relations at university, and he's put his degree to good use, having traveled to Greece, Russia, Austria, Estonia, and Singapore. | |

Charles fell in love with the Czech Republic three years ago: the people, the beer, and the country--which is why he did his CELTA training at Akcent International House in Prague and has joined us here at IH Brno. Before that, he was a successful business entrepreneur, owning his own delicatessen business and a bed and breakfast in the UK (which he still has). Originally from Lymington, Hampshire, Charles has traveled through Europe and the East Coast of the US and wants someday to travel to Russia. When he isn’t seizing the day cycling or digging up old bones to satisfy his curiosity in archeology, he dreams of good English bacon. |

This is Chris' second year at IH Brno. He comes to us after having spent a year teaching English at an International House school in Poland. Before that, he did some administrative work and traveled around to Italy, Japan, Hungary, France, Austria, and Slovakia. He is orignally from Jackson, Tennessee (USA), and he did his CELTA training at Prague's Akcent International House. He likes Czech students; he thinks they're hard-working and friendly. He came to IH Brno for its good reputation, and while he's here he hopes to learn a lot and to further develop his teaching skills. He wants to do some more travelling, gain experience teaching students of different nationalities, and eventually pursue the DELTA. He loves the Czech countryside and its friendly people. In his spare time he reads and swims (but not simultaneously). |

David's a Brit from the Midlands, Coventry to be exact. This is his second year at IH Brno and his prior teaching appointments have included International House schools both in Moscow, Russia and Zaragoza, Spain. He took the CELTA at the Berlin School of English, and he's planning on putting it to use with some hard-working, fun-loving Czech students. He came to Brno because he believes it's an overlooked gem--big enough to have decent amenities, but small enough to feel homey. He likes the Czech Republic because on the whole it's a good mix of eastern and western Europe. Rumour has it he spent New Year's Eve 2005 in a Moscow jail cell for being in the wrong place at the wrong time, and he hopes to find the Czech law less brutal than the Russian one. David’s also a musician at heart. At one time he played the double bass, but these days you can find him dabbling in guitar playing and song composition. |

Eva T is from Brno, and this is her second year at IH Brno, where she is responsible for teaching both English to our students and Czech to Foreigners to our native speakers. She studied ELT Methodology at Masaryk University and then spent some time teaching in the Czech secondary schools. Eva was attracted to IH Brno for its good reputation, its communicative methodology, its focus on teacher development and its friendly staff. She's looking forward to teaching motivated and open-minded students. She's travelled to Italy and Croatia. Her long-term goals are to enjoy life and teaching and to stay optimistic. She loves to read, swim, dance, do aerobics, and listen to music. Like many teachers, she is addicted to coffee. |

Hana holds a university degree in English Language and Literature, Modern Greek Language and Literature, and ELT training from Brno’s Masaryk University. Prior to her English-teaching career, which began five years ago, she had worked in the tourism industry as a travel agency representative and tourist guide in Greece. She says these positions were very good for her teaching skills because she learned how to be communicative and patient. She thinks Czech students are intelligent, hardworking, demanding and she chose to join the ILC International House Brno team this year because of its high standards and a very good reputation. Hana has also taught Greek and likes travelling, Ancient Greek art, cinema and aerobics. She also loves koalas but has never actually seen one. |

Don't call Lily-Anne English! She comes from Ayrshire, Scotland, and is very proud of her Scottish heritage. Lily-Anne has made the rounds--travelling to Greece, the Netherlands, Spain, and Hungary. Her English teaching has brought her to a variety of schools throughout China and the UK, including an International House school in Katowice, Poland. She earned the CELTA at IH Budapest. This is her second year in Brno, where she's looking forward to the supportive environment and the friendly, sociable students at IH, as well as the cheap and good Czech beer. At IH Brno she enjoys teaching Cambridge exam classes and Business English. Lily-Anne certainly knows a lot about beer, as she was a bar manager in both Scotland and China. She was also a trampoline coach during her student days. When she isn't passionately explaining how to properly use the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd conditionals, you can find her hillwalking (even with a broken leg) and watching football (otherwise known as soccer to the Americans). |

Marketa has been teaching English for over ten years and holds the ELT certificate from Masaryk University. She chose to join the International House Brno team because of its friendly atmosphere, helpful colleagues, and further professional development. This is Marketa’s second year here at International House, where she teaches many of the Cambridge exam courses. Outside of the classroom, she admits she has a strong sweet tooth, with a special craving for strawberries with cream and sugar, cakes, biscuits, etcetera. In true Czech style, she can also be found hiking in the mountains, swimming in the sea, sunbathing, and relaxing on the beach in her free time. |

Nick H has lived in Edinburgh, Scotland, on and off for the last 30 years, but he is definitely English. He has the CELTA teaching credential and, though this is his first year at ILC, he previously taught English in Tanzania. Tanzania is just one of the distant countries Nick has travelled to; aside from most of Europe, he has also been to South Korea, Israel, South Africa, Nigeria, and Tunisia! He came to ILC Brno because of the good, professional reputation it has as an International House school and because he believes Czechs are hard-working and fun students. Prior to teaching, Nick's professional experience came from the IT field, in which he worked in London and Edinburgh. However, Nick's long term goals are now firmly in teaching, and one day he would like to teach English in the developing world. He also hopes to write a comic novel someday. Nick has a wide range of interests in the arts and history. English students are aware that English spelling and pronunciation can be complicated, and Nick's surname, Houghton, is no exception...it can be pronounced at least eight different ways! |

Petra holds an ELT Methodology certificate from Masaryk University and has been working for International House since 2003. She is originally from Uherský Ostroh, and is a true Czech patriot. She thinks overall Czech students are lazy and want to have fun all the time, but when they have to pay, they want teaching that’s worth their money. She enjoys preparing quality lessons, and when not busy with her family, she enjoys music, dance, books, and medieval history. |

Radka K holds her Master’s degree in education from Masaryk University, spent a year studying and working in Australia, and has worked at a number of language agencies prior to coming to International House Brno. She is eager to develop her teaching skills through the professional development opportunities the school offers here, and thinks Czech students are very willing to learn new things. |

Regina is an experienced teacher at IH Brno. She is CELTA qualified from Basil Paterson College in Edinburgh, especially enjoys teaching FCE exam classes, and is also one of our four Cambridge certified Oral Examiners. Regina has a broad range of other experience, which includes medical training as a veterinarian and running her own business. When not taking care of her two dogs and four cats, Regina takes it easy by reading, socializing and playing tennis. A little known fact is that she has 42 pairs of shoes and has no plans to stop adding more. |

This is Sara's second year at IH Brno. She received her CELTA through Masaryk University, and holds a master's degree in teaching. She has taught English at an International House school in Poland, and she's also been to Japan, the USA, and Italy. She was attracted to IH Brno for its very good reputation and its high teaching standards. Before teaching English, she taught piano and music theory to children, but now she's committed to gaining more ELT expereince, and she'd like to earn the DELTA. She'd also like to work in Japan. Her hobbies are sports, music, and travelling. |
Sona comes from Hnevosice, Czech Republic, and she's travelled all over Europe--to the UK, France, Germany, Poland, Hungary, Slovakia, and Austria. Sona was a student of English linguistics at Masaryk University here in Brno. This is her second year at IH Brno and she has recently earned her CELTA training through the IH Brno teacher training center. Sona joined the IH staff because of the great colleagues and the stimulating atmosphere at the school. Czech students, she says, are friendly, cooperative, and intelligent, and she's looking forward to working with them. She'd like to work abroad, but she loves the Czech Republic for its castles, its museums, its natural beauty, and of course, the beer. When she's not daydreaming, she plays music and reads books about history. |

| Urzula completed her studies at Palacký University in Poland, focusing on English and Polish. Ironically, as a child she admits that she hated learning English. She has been in the English-teaching field for twelve years and is very active in attending conferences and other professional development opportunities. This is her first year on the International House staff and she is very happy to be in a school which uses communicative methodology. In her free time, Urzula enjoys Pantomime, reading, films, and theatre performances. | |
Zdenek is from Hrušovany u Brna (which translates as "pears near Brno"). He's studying ELT Methodology at Masaryk University and used to teach English to children. He's joined the IH staff two years ago because of its support for teacher training and its friendly students. He's been to Greece and Slovakia, and he hopes to get to Norway one day. His long-term goals are to teach, to translate, and to have a family. He's been known to participate in and organize live action role-playing events, where the imagination flows freely. His other interests include boardgames, computers, historical reenactments, and last but not least, his girlfriend. |
